James Webb Telescope's secondary mirror deployment test. Time-lapse footage captured on March 3, 2016 as engineers deploy the James Webb Telescope's (JWST) Secondary Mirror Support Structure with the secondary mirror installed, at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, USA. The JWST is an infrared telescope that is scheduled to be launched in 2018. By using infrared wavelengths, the JWST will be able to see through much of the dust that obscures visible light. It will also study dark matter, thought to form the majority of the matter in the universe. JWST is a successor instrument to the Hubble Space Telescope and the Spitzer Space Telescope.
