Ash eruption from Mount Yasur volcano. Close-up footage of strong ash-rich eruptions from the rim of an active crater on Mount Yasur, a volcano in the Pacific state of Vanuatu. Mount Yasur, rising to an elevation of 361 metres, is located on Tanna, one of the southernmost islands of Vanuatu. This stratovolcano has been persistently active for hundreds of years, and was seen erupting by Captain Cook in 1774. Eruptions have been largely strombolian and sometimes vulcanian. Footage obtained in June 2010.
