The Diemen combined heat and power plant on the outskirts of Amsterdam, Netherlands is operated by Nuon energy. It is a combined cycle gas turbine that produces 435 Megawatts of power and also 260 megawatts of heat, enough to supply 25, 000 homes with hot water. The water is pumped from the plant via an 11km long pipe under Ij Meer to supply the town of Almere with space heating for the houses. The combined heats and power makes the plant 85% efficient
