Timelapse of star trails in the night sky. When the stars near the horizon their path appears to deviate. This is caused by the refraction of light due to an atmospheric inversion layer, where cold dense air is trapped below warmer, less dense air. Filmed at the La Silla Observatory in the Atacama Desert, Chile.
