Super Guppy Turbine cargo aircraft. Timelapse footage showing two NASA T-38 aircraft being loaded into the cargo bay of a Super Guppy Turbine cargo aircraft at Dryden Flight Research Center, California, USA. Only the T-38s' wingtips were removed to enable them to fit in the 25-foot-wide cargo bay. The Guppy then airlifted the two retired T-38s to El Paso, Texas, to be dismantled for parts. The Super Guppy is an outsized cargo plane, flown since 1980 and acquired by NASA in 1997, replacing earlier Guppy aircraft dating back to the 1960s. The Guppies are designed to carry large loads such as other aircraft and space station components. This footage was shot on 26th March 2013.
