Timelapse footage of a mountain wave cloud, with updrafts marked by a sharp cloud boundary. Mountain wave clouds are formed when air is lifted as it passes over mountains, then sinks on the lee side, setting up a long wave. Where the peaks of the wave are above the level of the dew point in the atmosphere, water condenses into clouds at a fixed location. Filmed in the USA in late afternoon in the autumn.
