Kelvin-Helmholtz wave cloud. The characteristic hooked tops of this cloud reveal intense wind shear at that level. Two air masses moving in different directions form a turbulent boundary that forms horizontal vortices. These breaking waves are one cause of turbulence experienced by airline passengers, and they frequently occur without cloud revealing their location. Filmed in Colorado, USA, in spring.
