High-speed footage showing the three main classes of transient luminous event (TLE) that can be induced by a powerful lightning flash in a storm. First, a large diffuse glow known as an ELVE is seen, at an altitude of some 100 kilometres, on the edge of space. It is immediately followed by a lower and smaller halo, which sits above the following sprites, at below 85 kilometres. The entire event takes place in one 200th of a second. Filmed at 6000 frames per second over Colorado, USA.
