Correction of short sightedness. Animation showing a concave lens being placed in front of an eye to treat short sightedness. In short sightedness the eyeball is longer than it should be and light is focused in front of the retina (red line inside eyeball), causing difficulty focussing on distant objects. The concave lens causes light passing through it to diverge, and therefore focus further than normal.
