Water with hypochlorite disinfectant added. The water contains universal indicator, which is green in neutral water. Hypochlorite is a common steriliser, for instance used in swimming pools and to disinfect drinking water. In water, it reacts to form hypochlorous acid, which does the disinfecting. The equation for this is: OCl- + H2O --> OH- + HOCl. As hypochlorite bleaches are highly alkaline, the universal indicator turns purple.
