Animation of the structure of a molecule of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). This molecule has an octahedral geometry, with six fluorine atoms (green) forming an octahedron around a central sulfur atom (yellow). This geometry is adopted as the fluorine atoms repel each other, and are as far apart as possible. See clip K004 3566 for the molecule showing the angles between the atoms.
