Cataract, animation. A cataract is an abnormal cloudy and opaque area that can form in the lens (centre) of an eye. It leads to less light being transmitted through the lens, resulting in blurry vision. The condition will lead to blindness if not treated. Treatment is with the removal of diseased lens, which is replaced by a clear plastic lens.
