Asian tiger (Aedes albopictus) mosquito, distinguished by its black and white stripes, feeding on human. The female uses her sharp, needle-like proboscis to pierce the skin of humans and mammals. This mosquito is native to southeast Asia but has invaded other regions in recent years through international transport and travel. It is a vector for West Nile virus, yellow fever and dengue fever.
