After the bleeding has been stopped, the skin on the nose and forehead will be cut open to produce a skin flap. This skin flap will be repositioned and stitched into place to cover the circular area where the cancer has been removed. This surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic. BCC is a common form of skin cancer, most often caused by over-exposure to sunlight. It grows slowly and rarely spreads to other parts of the body.
