American cockroach Periplaneta americana walking next to its decapitated head in a demonstration that shows an insect磗 ganglia, or mini_brains, are found along the length of it磗 entire body, not just in it磗 head. Cockroaches have been known to survive and respond to stimuli for several days following decapitation, dying only from dehydration.
