Animation of the crystal structure of diamond, a form of the element carbon. Atoms of carbon are black, and the bonds between them grey. Diamond is the hardest naturally occurring mineral known, due to its regular and tightly bound structure. Each atom is bonded tetrahedrally to four others. This animation loops from frame 325 to 375.
