Animation of the internal structure of a supermassive black hole in an active galactic nucleus. Supermassive black holes are found in the centres of most if not all galaxies, and have a dust torus around their waist blue. In the centre the black hole itself is seen along with the accretion disk surrounding it. The jets coming out of the region nearest the black hole are shown in blue. They emerge from an area close to the black hole where a disk of accreted material rotates around the black hole yellow.
