PAN, exterior, daylight. Generalife Palace was the summer palace and country estate of the Nasrid Sultans of Granada. The palace and gardens were built during the reign of Muhammad III 1302_1309 and redecorated by the king Abu I_Walid Isma磇l 1313_1324. Throughout the Christian period the complex was remodeled several times. The present_day gardens were planned in 1931_1951 under architect Francisco Prieto Moreno. The central pools are in the shape of a cross, typical of many Muslim gardens. Alhambra was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
