Bright stars of the constellations Orion, Canis Major and Canis Minor shining over the Persian Gulf, as seen from southern Iran. The bright star just above the horizon is Canopus, the second brightest star in the night sky, which is barely visible from mid-latitudes in northern hemisphere. Bioluminescent plankton cast a blue colour in the sea.
