'View of the Acqueduct, near the Alhambra', 19th century, (1907). Landscape near the palace of the Alhambra, Granada, Spain, which mainly dates from the 14th century. The aqueduct ensured a constant flow of drinking water to the fortress and palace complex, as well a supply to feed the fountains and pools. From "The Alhambra: being a brief record of the Arabian conquest of the Peninsula with a particular account of the Mohammedan architecture and decoration" by Albert F. Calvert. [John Lane, London & New York, 1907]
