(Dhimstika, Malgara, and Keshan, in Thrace, are too far west to be included, but they must be added to the list). The nine places underlined were the destinations marked out, for such of the deported Armenians as reached them, as waiting-places for death.' 1.5 million Armenians, mostly citizens within the Ottoman Empire, were murdered in the systematic extermination which came to be known as the Armenian Genocide, or Armenian Holocaust.
