Interior detail, St Paul's Church, Church Bank, Jarrow, South Tyneside, c1955-c1980. A detailed view of architectural or sculptural fragments in St Paul's Church, most likely in the Victorian porch. The church dates from the 680s, and was formerly two separate churches. The present chancel was the eastern Saxon church, with Norman tower. The church has two porches, in the north and west, and the north porch was added in 1866 by George Gilbert Scott. The fragments are most likely Anglo-Saxon, and stored in a glass case.
