Britain's Top Secret 'Germ' Station Porton Salisbury, Britain's top-secret germ warfare station at Porton, near Salisbury was open to members of the press for the first time on the 9th July 1962. It is here that leading British Scientist are engaged in a struggle to find an effective counter to possible germ warfare attacks. They believe that in the event of such a war, many of the germs that would be spread by an enemy could be countered by simple vaccination. One idea is a new 'Secret Weapon' - a multiple vaccination gun which could vaccinate three or four persons a second against several viruses simultaneously. Here two researchers at the establishment, wearing protective clothing 'harvest' micro-organisma with the aid of a vacuum cleaner type machine, that are being used in an experiment.
