Hawaiian honeycreeper, illustration. 1. Oahu oo (Moho apicalis) was a member of the extinct genus of the oos (Moho) within the extinct family Mohoidae. It was previously regarded as member of the Australo-Pacific honeyeaters (Meliphagidae). 2. The kioea (Chaetoptila angustipluma) was a endemic Hawaiian bird that became extinct around the mid-19th century. From 'Extinct Birds: an attempt to unite in one volume a short account of those birds which have become extinct in historical times: that is, within the last six or seven hundred years: to which are added a few which still exist, but are on the verge of extinction' by Baron, Lionel Walter Rothschild, published in 1907.
