Guimar??es is a Portuguese city of Braga District, North and sub-region Ave. Known as the birthplace of Portugal, Guimaraes is more than a redoubt of history that has its roots in the Middle Ages, when Afonso Henriques was proclaimed king in 1139 the Portuguese country. Still retains the Castelo, though, that the mother sits on the hill overlooking the village rock, and the Romanesque church of San Miguel, the twelfth century, at his feet.
