Kepler 438 is a red dwarf in Lyra, 470 light-years from Earth. Around this star, astronomers have detected a planet, probably rocky, within the habitable zone. This is the region around a star within which liquid water liquid water can exist on the surface of a planet. This illustration imagines the star to be highly magnetic, like many red dwarfs, creating a powerful aurora in the sky of the planet.
