Bust of the late Mr. Bunning, City Architect, by Joseph Durham, F.S.A., erected at the City of London School, 1865. A memorial tablet and bust have been erected in the western entrance-hall of the City of London School, in honour of the late Mr. Bunning, City architect, whose professional services to the Corporation began with his design for that building...The monument consists of a white Carrara marble bust...The features are easily recognisable by those acquainted with Mr. Bunning, more especially in the earlier period of his career; and although the sculptor, Mr. Joseph Durham, was obliged to depend upon a photograph and upon recollection for guidance, he has given to this production of his skill an excellent likeness and a thoughtful and pleasing expression. The tablet bears the following inscription: "Erected by the Corporation of London, as a tribute of respect to the memory of James Bunstone Bunning, Esq., F.S.A., who designed this school, and for upwards of twenty years was the City architect. He maintained through life a character for high professional talent, and left behind him an unblemished reputation and an honoured name. Born Oct., 1802; died, Nov. 1863".
