The Elections in the Metropolitan Boroughs: Westminster election: the nomination in Covent-Garden, [London], 1865. At the Westminster nomination, Mr. Scott Turner, High Bailiff, presided. Captain Robert Grosvenor was proposed by Serjeant Tozer and seconded by Mr. Bidgood; Mr. John Stuart Mill was proposed by Dr. Brewer and seconded by Mr. Malleson; Mr. W. H. Smith was proposed by Mr. J. Lettsom Elliott and seconded by Mr. Twining. Captain Grosvenor, Mr. Mill, and Mr. Smith addressed the electors in turn, but only the reporters could hear them. A show of hands was taken, and was declared to be in favour of Captain Grosvenor and Mr. Smith. From "Illustrated London News", 1865.
