Demoiselle crane (Grus virgo).There are two main populations of demoiselle cranes, one wintering in Africa and the other in the Indian subcontinent. They migrate to breed in summer to Turkey, the Black Sea and east to Mongolia and North Eastern China. They maintain monogamous, lifetime partnerships, are famous for their elegant dancing displays and have an important role in the cultures of Pakistan and India. Their diet is omnivorous including plants, seeds, invertebrates and small animals.
