Pied kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) perching on a twig. This species of water kingfisher is widely distributed across Africa and Asia. It has black and white plumage and is known for hovering over lakes and rivers before diving for fish. Males can be distinguished by a double band across their breast, while females have a single gorget that is often broken in the middle. Photographed in Chobe National Park, Botswana.
