Comet 60P/Tsuchinshan (centre-right, downward trail), or Tsuchinshan 2, photographed on 6 January 2019. Comets are collections of dust and ice that orbit the Sun. As they near the Sun and are warmed they release gas (outgassing) that forms the tail. This comet was discovered at the Purple Mountain Observatory, China on 11 January 1965. It takes 6.7 years to orbit the Sun.
