Callanish stone circle in fog. This neolithic stone circle is situated near Callanish, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, UK. The site is one of the most well-preserved Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments dating from around 2600 BC. The precise purpose of the Callanish Stones remains a subject of debate, but like other megalithic monuments, they are believed to have had religious, ceremonial, and astronomical significance to the people who built them.
