New schools at Long Ashton, near Bristol, 1862. The new parochial schools building comprises a boys and girls school, with two fine classrooms, cap and cloak rooms, and a masters house...It has suitable playgrounds, and the whole is very prettily surrounded with handsome railings in front, and neat fences at the sides and back. The erection is in the Early Decorated style, of Nailsea pennant, with freestone dressings, and is ornamented with a handsome bell turret, supported with polished Purbeck marble columns, with carved capitals. The masonry is of the best description, the details have been carried out with much care and fidelity, and the establishment presents an imposing appearance. Situated on a gentle eminence, surrounded with delightful, undulated, and pleasantly wooded country, it is a conspicuous and agreeable object, materially enriching the picturesque landscape. The architect is Mr. J. Wilson, F.S.A., of Bath, and the plan upon which the schools have been built has been much and justly commended...The builders are Messrs. E. and J.
