Damage to a crop caused by feral swine (family Suidae), USA. Swine are not native to the Americas, but have been brought there by humans on multiple occasions since the 1500s. Following escape, wild populations gradually grew and are now found in huge numbers across most of the US. Feral swine caused approximately $1.5 billion in damages and control costs in the US each year, with at least $800 million of this estimate due to direct damage to agriculture.
