Cretaceous plants, illustration. This is the Early Cretaceous and a butterfly-like Kalligrammatid lacewing with wing markings is visiting a flower of a Kimuriella densifolia Bennettitales seed plant. These plants were cycad-like, but some grew as shrubs. They had flowers and there is evidence that insects such as lacewings fertilised the plants.
