Engraving depicting a model butter factory; where the machinery was powered by a steam engine through belt and shaft drive. The milk was poured into the tank on the platform on the left; which was then allowed to run through a refrigerator into centrifugal cream separators below. The cream would then be put into churns; then passed to the working and blending machine on the right; and finally weighed and packed. Dated 19th Century.
