The Queens Cup, won by Mr. Johnsons Audax at the Royal Western Yacht Club Regatta, 1861. Her Majesty has presented to the Royal Western Yacht Club a cup, which...was raced for on Thursday week, and won by Mr. Johnsons Audax...(The cup)...is massive and elegant, of artistic conception, and of perfect finish. It is supported by the tails of three dolphins whose bodies form the stem, while infant sons of AEolus, seated on their shoulders, urge them to race. On the sides of the cup are three medallions - the Sea, represented by Amphitrite; the Earth, by Cybele; and science, by Minerva. The cover is surmounted by a young zephyr balanced on tiptoe, and spreading a light sail to the breeze. On one of the compartments of the base is engraved: "Presented by her Majesty Queen Victoria, 1861;" on another, "Royal Western Yacht Club;" and on a third is inscribed the name of the winner. The admirable designs of this cup, which are carried out in the completest detail, are due to the artistic genius of Monti, whilst the credit won by the goldsmith is the portion of Mr. Hancock.
