Giovanni Bellini and Albrecht D?rer are celebrated by Venetian artists, 1856. Among the passengers in a gondola are Albrecht D?rer (with hood, beard and long hair to the left under the canopy). Next to him in yellow is Giovanni Bellini. In black opposite D?rer is Titian. With this staged imaginary meeting of the most famous painters of their time, Jacopo dAndrea evokes the outstanding era of Venetian painting in the 16th century. In the background is the Campanile on St. Marks Square, and the Doges Palace. The painting was commissioned by the Austrian imperial house.
