Lady Anne Bacon, c1600. English scholar and writer Anne, Lady Bacon (n?e Cooke, c1527-1610) made a lasting contribution to English religious literature with her translation from Latin of John Jewel's Apologie of the Anglican Church (1564). She was the mother of philosopher and statesman Francis Bacon.
