Standing, in the blue shirt, is Deke Slayton, director of Flight Crew Operations. After being suited up, the crew were transported to their spacecraft on Pad A, Launch Complex 39. The Apollo 15 mission launched at 09:34 local time on 26 July 1971, successfully entering orbit around the Moon a few days later.
