Close-up of the tongue of a patient with an abnormally large tongue (macroglossia) that is resolving to it's usual size. Macroglossia may be congenital (present from birth) or acquired. It is often a symptom of an underlying condition or a complication of treatment for another condition. Treatment is only needed if it causes problems with speech, eating or breathing.
