Ultrasound scan of an embryo at 7 weeks 3 days. At this stage the embryo has grown to about 10 millimetres long from head to bottom. The brain and face are growing. Depressions that will give rise to nostrils become visible and the beginnings of the retinas form. Lower limb buds that will become legs also appear.
