Norway spruce (Picea abies) foliage. This tree is native to northern, central and eastern Europe. It can reach 40 metres and live for up to 1000 years. The leaves are needle-like with blunt ends. They also bear white speckled lines and carry a rich, sweet smell. The Norway spruce is grown widely and used as a decorative Christmas tree. Photographed in April, in Dorset, UK.
