A Prince Joins The Army - H.R.H. The Duke of Kent tries on an overcoat - ubder the watchful eye of an officer - while being "Kitted up" at Sandhurst. H.R.H. The Duke of Kent, son of the late Duke of Kent and the Duchess of Kent, is to make the Army his career and has joined up as a Private. The Duke, who will be 18 in October, will serve for six months as a Private soldier before going to the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst for training an officer-cadet. September 8, 1953.
