Orange tip butterfly (Anthocharis cardamines), a member of the Pieridae family. These butterflies get their name from the distinctive orange tips that are visible on the male's forewings. Orange tips are usually on the wing between April and June, with a single generation. The larvae host plants include cuckooflower (Cardamine pratensis) and garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolate). This species is found throughout Europe and across the Palearctic ecozone. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
