Douglas, Arizona, An early telephone at Slaughter Ranch, in southeast Arizona on the Mexican border. Originally called the San Bernardino Ranch, the ranch was owned by rancher and frontier sheriff John Slaughter from 1884 until 1922. It is now a museum. Slaughters telephone was the first one in this part of the country, it was connected to the sheriffs office in Tombstone, Arizona, 70 miles away
