La Petit Journal, France: Korean Pavilion for the Paris Universal Exposition, 1900. This is a drawing of the exhibition hall of the Korean Empire that participated in the Paris World's Exposition in 1900 published in a French daily newspaper. In the late 19th century, many countries around the world used national flags for national identity, and the Taegeukgi (right above) was declared the Korean flag in 1883 through a treaty with the United States.
