City of Barletta: Monumento ai Carabinieri (Monument to Carabinieri policemen); unveiled 2015 in castle gardens Giardini Fratelli Cervi; in front of Castello di Barletta (Barletta Castle) with ravelin and bridge to main entrance; the monument was built by architect Michele Sarcina and is dedicated to the victims of Carabinieri police units "fallen for fatherland and peace". These include as well 6 of the local police men; executed on 12th of September 1943 by Nazi German troops during the massacre (mass murder) of Barletta. Castello di Barletta was built from 11th century to 18th century. Main works happened in Normannic times 1046 - 1194 and im times of Staufer dynasty 1194 - 1266. Further works were realized under Anjou 1266 - 1424; Aragon 1442 - 1501; and Spain 1504 - 1707. The castle was restored 1973 - 1987 and houses the museum of local history. Until 2002; the park and garden in front of the castle was restored and named Giardini Fratelli Cervi.
