Doorway to the principal floor of Bennet?s Hall, which dates back to the mid 13th century and is sometimes known as 'The Old Mint', since it is believed to have been the site of Charles I's Shrewsbury Mint, during the Civil War. It has more recently been established that this was the town house of the Ludlow family, probably built by Nicholas, father of the builder of Stokesay Castle. The archway beside the steps led to Leopard Shut, later known as Purslow's Passage, after a tailor at No 3 Pride Hill. Once one of the most-photographed scenes in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. These remains have miraculously survived and are incorporated into a modern coffee shop interior!! Date: 1904
