1889 photograph - RMS Teutonic - from an album of images relating to the launch of the vessel, which was built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast, for the White Star Line - later to achieve notoriety as the owner of the Titanic. The album shows interiors of the ship, member of the crew, trial cruises, including a visit onboard by the German Kaiser and Prince of Wales, as well as many images of other visitors. This image - the crew of the training ship Exmouth cheering first officer McKinstry who had jumped into the water to recue a member of their crew who had been knocked overboard during McKinstry was later captain of the SS Germanic.
